You know how to be successful. You know how to become rich. The trouble is, very few people put into practice what they already know.
In the book, "Think and Grow Rich," the first chapter is entitled, "Thoughts are Things." Napoleon Hill sets the stage with this opening chapter by establishing the prime movers for turning thoughts into riches - definiteness of purpose, persistence and desire. But, that's obvious, isn't it? You know that already, right? The main principle, in my opinion, is definiteness of purpose - or Life Purpose.
Many people don't really know what they want from life, except perhaps that they would like to be wealthy. Most have no thoughts on How. Are you like that? Even people who have been in business for themselves for years have fallen into the same trap of not really knowing where their business is heading. They have no Wealth Plan.
The first anecdote in Think and Grow Rich mentions Edwin C. Barnes. It is about Barnes’ overriding intention to go into business with Thomas Edison. Hill describes an imaginary conversation in which Barnes says, "I have come here to go into business with Edison, and I’ll accomplish this end if it takes the remainder of my life." It seems to me that Hill is clearly describing a Life Purpose - "...if it takes the remainder of my life." As your mentor, I will show you how to discover your Life Purpose. You will use that to build your Wealth Program.
Another thing that this story of Barnes produces is the clear statement from Napoleon Hill that "...an intangible impulse of thought can be transmuted into material rewards by the application of known principles." So many people pick on the first part of that sentence - "...thought can be transmuted into material rewards..." - and take that to mean that thought alone can make you rich. (The more practical among us will dismiss that as nonsense!) However, I see the final words as far more important - "...the application of known principles..." In other words, we already know how to become successful. Success is inherent in every man, woman and child on this planet - through "known principles." It is part of our human makeup. Zig Ziglar says, "Man was designed for accomplishment, engineered for success, and endowed with the seeds of greatness." I believe that to be true, and it will be my job to draw out from you your "greatness."
Are you ready for that? (Yes, Frederick! I want you to mentor me NOW!)
Once you understand and believe this concept that we already know how to be successful, the rest of your journey becomes a mere technical process of building upon what you already know. This is immensely important in getting the most out of your plans and your goals. And your mentorship.
Right now, I want you to take a sheet of paper and write down all the things you want to improve, and all the things you will no longer accept in your life. Describe these things in detail. Decide the type of life you intend to live from now on. Decide NOW about the changes you will make happen that will turn your business into the success you know it can be.
This list is going to be the basis of your WEALTH PROGRAM. Make sure your list is complete, because three months from now, you will be well on the way to achieving those things and will probably have already accomplished many of them.
Let's see how you can accomplish that ....
Next - Do you already have a program? ....
